What do Buzz Lightyear, the hero from Toy Story, and investor relations
professionals have in common? It’s definitely not the uniform or the wings; rather it is their shared ethos, “to Infinity and Beyond”. Both the animated character and IR professionals face difficult and increasingly complicated tasks in their daily lives. The aim of this new edition of our annual IRO Surveys is to highlight the evolution of Investor Relations practices in Europe. The following themes serve as a backbone to our analysis:
- Positioning and remuneration of Heads of Investor Relations
- Scope of IR responsibilities
- Involvement of management in financial communication
- New regulation and operational impacts
- US and Asia roadshows
Why focus on these themes instead of others, such as SRI or communication with credit investors, which we touched on two years ago? The reason is simple – you asked for it. We reached out to those with whom the Kepler Cheuvreux SmartConnect team works daily, and you came back to us with these issues, as they were major sources of uncertainty for you. We hope that this survey contributes to your discussions and projects for 2016 or in the mid-term.
We would like to thank all the associations (AERI, AIR, BIRA, Bulgarian IR
association, CLIFF, CIRA, DIRF, DIRK, European Issuers, irClub, IR Club Schweiz, FIRS, MiddleNext, NEVIR, SIRA, the QCA) that have given us their support for this initiative. We also would like to say thank you to each of the 245 people who took the time to answer our survey.
