Germany’s banks have signalled their serious commitment to responsible and sustainable banking with their joining of the Net Zero Banking Alliance and adoption of the UN Principles for Responsible Banking (PRB). As the 5th anniversary of the UN Principles for Responsible Banking approaches, and signatory banks work on setting new ambitions in ‘PRB 2030’, banks are grappling with complex sustainability challenges and calls to set more ambitious goals. These challenging issues include nature-related risks and opportunities, the climate-nature nexus, financing the energy transition, the just transition, combatting plastic pollution, and economic inclusion.
You are cordially invited to join FTI for a breakfast about what responsible banking means in 2024 for Germany’s banks. Victoria Strachwitz, Head of FTI Consulting’s Communications and Change business in Germany, will be hosting the conversation led by two individuals at the heart of the Principles for Responsible Banking:
- UNEP FI’s Dr Johanna Dichtl, leader of the Implementation Guidance Team for the PRB, and previously Sustainability Manager at Munchener Hypothekenbank
- FTI Consulting’s Dr Wendy Dobson, was co-chair of the UNEPFI Banking Board between 2020 and 2023, and played a leading role in the development of the PRB in her previous role as the head of sustainability at Standard Bank, Africa’s largest banking group
